Description

Survey of c. 80 ha of land to the north and west of the modern township of Arnol, Lewis (OS 1:2500 sheets NB 3049-3149 & NB 3048-3148), concentrating upon a) the low-lying area above the shingle beach known as Mol a' Chladaich and the traditional site of Old Arnol, b) the small farmsteads and mills shown on the 1st ed. 6" OS map of 1853 on the higher ground between the coast and the 1853 crofting township and c) the house alignment of the crofting township of Arnol seen on the 1st ed. 6" OS map of 1853.
