Full Description

E 427:
This enclosure is situated near the eastern coast of Eriskay in a small valley beween to steep cliffs 300 metres south-east of Loch Duvat. The distance to the sea is 40 metres and a small stream runs down to the sea south of the enclosure. The enclosure measures 10 x 5 metres and its walls stand 60 cm high and are completely turfed over, the northern wall is provided by a steep cliff face. It is located on a faint slope. The nearest settlement is about 600 metres to the north.
Interpretation: This enclosure has a similar appearance as E 425. Therefore it could have been built for the same purpose, e.g. as a shelter for a boat or fishing equipment.
