A crofting township, comprising one roofed building, twenty-one unroofed buildings and twenty-one enclosures is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Island of Lewis Ross-shire 1853, sheet 8). Five unroofed buildings and six enclosures are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1974).
This site may belong to the same phase of crofting development as NB24NE 8.08.

Pre-crofting townships comprising of two clusters of settlement (Cnoc Bhaile Loch & Cnoc Fraidh), located around the head of the bay. The area of Cnoc Bhaile Loch is depicted on the Chapman Gibbs map (1807); it appears to represent a multi period settlement, a long thin fank located between other buildings may represent reuse of an earlier structure (possibly Norse). Cnoc Fraidh is possibly a later settlement given its raised location. This area offers plently of scope for further survey to define the chronology of these and other settlements in the area.
