NLO: Port Nis [name: NB 540 638].
1st January 1859, MINNIE HARLEY, brigantine, 94 tons, 6 crew, carrying tar etc., foundered, total loss, 2 lives lost, off Port Ness, Island of Lewis.

Statement by Henry Desmond, seaman of the MINNIE HARLEY, which departed Archangel for Cork carrying spars, tar, and pitch, on 2nd October 1858. Abandoned, after drifting in North Sea, Captain and crew suffering from lack of water and food. One crew member died on board. Kenneth Murray, Merchant, Port of Ness, took Captain and remaining three crew ashore to the Isle of Lewis on 28th December. Captain died ashore and was buried at Swanbost. Vessel was abandoned and believed to have foundered.
