Full Description

Following on from a program of archaeological evaluation during road improvement works for CnES, an area of archaeological significance was identified. This area was subsiquently excavated ahead of the proposed developmenT works. The site opened up for excavation comprised of four areas. All features and deposits were sub-peat; features included semi circular & sub rectangular structures, comprising of kerbstones and post settings, a hearth and areas for quartz processing. Finds included flint, quartz flakes & debitage, six pieces of wood and a single decorated ceramic vessel with a rounded base, suggesting an Early Neolithic date.
