Full Description

This feature comprises of at least 3 courses of drystone making up side walls set into the surrounding peat, with 3 rough flagstones capping off the structure. However no stone lining was apparent at either end. Coming off of the NW side of this feature are a number of paving stones that give the impression of a squar'ish platform with a curved arc. These stones are within the peat but not buried by it. Dimensions souterain - 2m x 1.5m, paved area 2m x 2m
This feature is orientated NE/SW, and is located on a raised part of the surrounding bog, in an area of peat hags and erosion channels. No other features were noted in the near vicinity.
This is an unusal feature that may relate to relate to a structure that no longer exists (soutererrain type feature?). Possibly a culvert for an earlier eroded track, although there is no evidence of a routeway. Its size and shape could potentally suggest a long cist; however the location would seem to count against this.
Could this be animal trap (otters)?
