Peat ash deposit in the eroding coastal edge, characterized by active and stable erosion areas along the top of the small bay. Beach pebbles obscure the deeper stratigraphy of the coastal edge and it is not certain whether this deposit has slumped or represents a harder layer within the existing section. The peat ash layer representing an area of burning, is seen as a distinctive orange/ brown deposit with a clayey consistency. Numerous fine horiziontal layers are represented with occassional charcoal flecks and shells (limpit , whelk). The deposit is within sand layers (above & below). A single broken barbed and tanged quartz arrowhead roughout was noted and recovered from this deposit; due to the threat of active erosion. The deposit is approximatly 2m wide and 0.2m thick.
