Full Description

During a watching brief AOC for the installation of a water main river crossing for Scottish Water a series of buried soil layers were identified on both sides of the river. The presence of occupation material was uncertain within possible soil layers on the North side of the river. However, several layers on the South side of the river contained clear evidence for human modification and evidence of for iron-working industry. A large lump of ferrous waste was hand-retrieved. Post-excavation work will hopefully clarify the chronology of these deposits.
