Full Description

Pre-clearance settlement depicted in the Chapman /Gibbs map, as a small cluster of structures; annotated 'Islawick'. Current AP's show site is still visible, comprising of ruined structures and probably later enclosures.

The site comprises of two large drystone enclosures with a raised revetted platform 'garden ' and possible earlier building, between the two. A ruined blackhouse (with later modifications) is located to the east. The mill on the otherside of the stream and the blackhouse are depicted as roofed on the 6" 1st ed Ordnance Survey sheet (1854)
