Monument record MWE157686 - Griminish

Following the discovery of a human bone in the area, a subsiquent walkover survey identified a cist burial. This feature comprised of a single crouched inhumation within a short cist, aligned NE/SW. The upper body and part of the cist had been lost to coastal erosion. Excavation revealed that the Late Iron Age cist had been cut into an existing midden layer of Bronze Age date. This project was funded by Historic Scotland under the Call off Contract for Human Remains.
